Introducing my Forest Folk Collection!

Hello!!

It's been so long since I posted, I hardly know where to begin. I think, rather than try to post everything that I've made these last 9 months, I think I'll just pick up right where I am now.
I've had such an amazing year in terms of needle felting & I feel that I have progressed a lot even in these last few months.
I've been concentrating on faces just lately, as these were something that I always used to shy away from (because I could never get them right). But then I found an amazing tutorial on YouTube (By the wonderful Sarafina Fiber Arts) on how to properly construct faces when needle felting & suddenly it all made sense.

So I've been making 'People' or 'Forest Folk' to be more exact!

Here are some of my latest creations.....

This is a needle felted Witch. She is needle felted over a wire armature & has a wet felted hat. She carries a real wooden staff.

This next one is a Wizard, Forest Man, Gandalf type creation. Again, he is needle felted over a wire armature with a removable wet felted hat, decorated with curly locks.

Lastly, I have made a Troll/Ogre. He is my largest ever creation, standing at 30cm tall! He is needle felted over wire armature & his robes are made from a mixture of wet and needle felted fibers.

Needle felted Christmas Baubles

In the run up to Christmas last year, just before I started my Maternity leave,  my boss asked me to make her a set of christmas baubles.

Lucky for her I had recently purchased some gorgeous white and burgundy wool batts from a stall at the Yarndale festival in September,  and had been looking for an excuse to use it! (Yarndale is an annual event held at Skipton Auction Mart, North Yorkshire - just a ten minute drive away from my home).

For these baubles, I used 8cm polystyrene balls and I wet felted the wool around the balls.  When they were dry I needle felted the details on.

I made a set of 12 matching/ contrasting balls and I was rather sad to part with them.  I think I'll make myself a set this year!

I'm Back!!

Hello to you all!

My goodness, I've been away for a really long time, haven't I?

I gave birth to our second beautiful baby girl in January this year, and the time has literally flown by in a blur.

I've managed to keep my facebook page up to date, but as my computer has been packed away to make room for a bazillion baby items,  unfortunately I haven't been updating my blog. However, due to the wonders of technology today, here I am now, blogging from my mobile!

Don't worry, I won't bombard you with 8 months worth of work in one post, I shall ease in gently and start updating shortly.

I shall see you all again very soon x x

Needle Felted Pet Portraits

These were an unusual request for me, and not something I would normally attempt to make.  They are portraits of someone's pet dogs and were to be surprise gifts for Christmas,  which is why I've not been able to share them until now.

I made this little fella as a secret santa gift for a work colleague. He has a little jingly bell sewn onto the end of his hat.

(More) Needle Felted Mushrooms!

I'm really excited about my latest makes, as it has taken quite some time for me to get hold of all the necessary bits. I managed to get hold of some logs, and then had to get someone to cut them for me, I gave them a good wash & let them dry out.



Then I needle felted some more mushrooms (I just love making mushrooms!!) and glued them onto the little wooden disc, along with some moss that I had previously preserved. I absolutely love the finished item!!

Ha ha, here is one that I made just for fun, to add to my Christmas Decorations. As much as I absolutely LOVE the Jim Carrey version, I decided to make this one like the original character. I am undecided yet as to whether or not to give him a Santa hat?
